Summer Camp 2019

For Children between 6 and 15 Years, were those who have not played music before will learn to play a few tunes on the whistle. Those already playing will learn more tunes.

The children will be taught Songs, some Ceilí Dances and some Gaeilge all mixed with much enjoyment fun and games.


Traditional Solo Step Dancing Workshops

15th – 26th July 2:30pm
Sarah and Maurice O’Keeffe

 
Sarah and Maurice are Ireland’s leading young traditional step dancers, continuing the tradition of the old dancing masters. They will teach the authentic old traditional step dances and explain the history behind them.

Starting with the “Three Sea Captains”, which goes back to the Battle of Navarino in 1827, the steps in this dance depict the movement of ships in battle. These dances have almost vanished from our tradition.

Advanced Traditional Music workshops with music from old manuscripts, some going back to before 1850, containing an older layer of Sliabh Luachra music which had vanished from the tradition.
