History

The mountainy area along the Cork/Kerry border is known as Sliabh Luachra and was the uninhabited wet, marshy, rushy, mountain area of the old Kingdom of Luachra first noted in the “Annals of Inisfallen” in 534 when the King of Luacar won a battle against Tuathal Moel nGarb and again in 741 with the death of Cuaine, Abbot of Ferna and Flan Feórna, son of Cormac King of Luachra.

How to find us

 The Bruach Na Carraige centre resides just inside the Cork border between Limerick and Kerry. The centre is located 52 miles from Cork city and 44 miles from Limerick city on the main Abbeyfeale to Mallow road (R576)

Bruach Na Carraige centre:

Bruach na Carraige is the first project to realise the potential of Sliabh Luachra music and traditions in the Rockchapel. The 2,000 square foot building, was officially opened by President Mary McAleese 10th June 1999.
